“Strabismus can have profound effects on physical and psychological well-being”
The following comment was posted in our online vision group by a 49-year-old woman living in Berlin. I judged it too relevant and pressing to have it simply go down the FB drain.
“Vision problems such as strabismus can have profound effects on both physical and psychological well-being. I didn’t fully realise this until I started Vision Therapy. A lot of things are making sense now that didn’t before, like not being able to read sheet music or bus timetables, or to do “spotting” at ballet lessons. I would also, for instance, keep my eyes peeled on the ground to avoid tripping over obstacles and avoid looking people in the eye. Other symptoms and effects include photophobia (extreme sensitivity to light), bad posture, poor self-esteem and possibly even the decision to remain childless. Thanks to everyone here for helping to raise awareness of strabismus and related issues!”
